For Immediate Release
Despite continuing power outages, Living Earth was open for business as usual Monday morning to help in the recovery efforts from the effects of Hurricane Ike.
Living Earth personnel worked over the weekend and returned to work Monday morning at all eight locations throughout the greater Houston area, six of which accept green material, including tree limbs, brush and leaves, from businesses, commercial waste haulers and municipalities who are diligently working to clean up limbs and other green material that fell during the storm.
As always, at Living Earth this material will be processed and recycled into useful mulch, compost and biomass fuel, ultimately benefiting the environment and alleviating the strain on traditional waste disposal systems as the clean-up work begins.
"Living Earth has a longstanding relationship with the City of Houston," said Living Earth President Mark Rose, "and we hope by opening today and standing ready, we can help the city recover as quickly as possible." For over 16 years, Living Earth has partnered with the city on a variety of green initiatives. For the past year, Living Earth has participated in a pilot program to recycle green material for the city, a program that will be rolled out city-wide this fall.
As the largest recycler of green material in the state, Living Earth encourages everyone to participate in the environmentally friendly clean-up of Houston. For the location nearest you, please call 713-466-7360 or visit www.livingearth.net.
