Situation:
The Texas Department of Transportation (“TXDOT”) sought a more effective way to re-establish vegetation and control erosion along rights-of-way in an environmentally friendly manner.
Living Earth’s Solution:
- Living Earth participated in a pilot program with TXDOT demonstrating the benefits of compost along rights-of-way
- Results of the program demonstrated that compost promotes vegetative growth and controls erosion more effectively than traditional alternatives
- TXDOT now specifies and purchases significant amounts of compost, and helps drive the market for mulch and compost products. Living Earth is the leading supplier of compost for Texas highway projects
